Essential Impact Evaluation - Masterclass with Prof Robert Brinkerhoff
This LPI masterclass cuts through the fog on impact evaluation, and will give you the knowledge, resources, and confidence to produce credible and compelling impact evidence that can be used to make a difference – demonstrating L&D’s value while at the same time identifying the factors and conditions that L&D leaders and their clients can manage to milk increasingly more value from L&D investments.
We have very intentionally called this Essential Impact Evaluation, because:
- It boils down the often complicated and obscure definition of training “impact” to its clear and readily understandable essence
- It reflects the reality that measuring impact is essential to being able to help clients gain the value they need from L&D investments
- It provides participants the the essential knowledge – and measurement resources - they need to be able to conduct worthwhile impact evaluation projects in their own organisations.
The Essential Impact Evaluation masterclass will equip you to provide evidence to address and answer five key evaluation questions about any L&D initiative.
- To what extent was the training applied in worthwhile actions and behaviors (how, how much, where?)
- When the training was used, what good did it do? What if any results were achieved?*
- When the training worked, what factors helped produce value?
- When the training did not work, what got in the way?
- Who needs to do what to increase the value and impact of future iterations of this (and other) initiatives?
At last, a method for evaluating impact of L&D initiatives that is valid, technically sound, but practical and simple enough that any L&D professional can use it. And, above all, a method that produces compelling evidence of value that L&D leaders and their clients can use to accelerate impact and business results.
Robert Brinkerhoff has been a definitive and leading voice in training impact and effectiveness for more than four decades. He has conducted impact evaluations for dozens of companies and organizations around the world, including The World Bank, The US Department of Education, Cargill, Amazon, Cisco , The Kellogg Foundation, Hewlett Packard, The U.S. Postal Service, Merck, Atlanta Children’s Hospital, The Tuck School, Wharton, Ford Motor Company, SteelCase, and many more. He has taken all of this expertise and vast experience and boiled it down into a straightforward, practical, research-based method that can be used by any reasonably experienced L&D professional to conduct their own highly effective impact evaluation projects.
It has long been Professor Brinkerhoff’s opinion that the entire topic of impact evaluation has become over-complicated, infused with obscure language and terminology, and overly complex methods. “This is not rocket science!” he has professed time and again. L&D professionals can and should be conducting and using far more impact evaluation than they are currently. Thus this partnership with LPI.
