L&DI Certificate in Training Needs Identification and Design (15 ECTS Credits) leading to the QQI Level 6 Training and Development Special Purpose Award – 6S3372
Looking to build confidence and competence in training design? This practical, interactive course is ideal for those new to L&D, trainers looking to formalise
their skills, or professionals seeking a recognised QQI qualification.
The course guides you through a structured process to identify training needs and design relevant, engaging programmes. You’ll apply theory to real-world
scenarios and leave equipped to assess, plan, and organise impactful training interventions.
Who is it for?
Suitable for L&D newcomers, in-house trainers, or anyone seeking formal training design credentials.
You will learn how to:
- Understand the evolution of workplace learning
- Define strategic L&D in organisations, including theory, frameworks, structures, and
governance - Recognise the impact of L&D and the competencies needed in the future
- Identify, design, and implement a Learning Needs Analysis process
- Define the key components of the L&D design process
- Develop effective learning objectives, outcomes and content for an optimum learning
experience - Explore contemporary developments in learning technologies and a range of
appropriate use cases

Course Requirements
Applicants for the Training Needs Analysis & Design must:
- Applicants must be basic competent and comfortable participating in a virtual environment e.g., Zoom
- Be at least 18 years of age by January 1st of the year of application;
- Hold a Leaving Certificate/FETAC level 5 qualification or equivalent (it is assumed that participants will have an underlying foundational working knowledge/experience/interest in L&D and/or training).
- All applicants whose first language is not English must have attained B2+ or the equivalent TOEFL score
Applicants must have access to a computer, stable WiFi, camera, speakers and microphone.

Notice of less than 10 working days: 100% of course fee.
